As with other Life Safety systems, Emergency Lighting requires regular inspection and maintenance to ensure it’s fully operational in case of emergency.
The lights must be able to remain illuminated for 3 hours upon failure of mains power and a log of regular checks must be kept and an annual certificate produced to prove compliance.
